Why didn't "Katie" refer to her as "governor" instead of "Palin"?

Interesting claim - that Couric purposely struck references to Gov. Palin's title from the infamous interview...

It's part of a trend in the media. Refer to Gov. Palin as "Sarah", the mayor of a town of 9,000, or a former beauty pageant contestant... anything but governor.

I am a female professional in a male dominated field, and my professional title and/or last name is dropped all the time. I asked a male colleague of identical rank if he is ever called "Mr" or "First Name". Never. It makes me feel like I need to work that much harder to gain the same respect. In the case of this story, it appears the title was dropped on purpose to dimunize her. Terrible!

I agree with you. It happens to me all the time too.
