Another self-described feminist: Palin is exploiting, neglecting her kids

Becky O'Malley writes an editorial in the Berkeley Daily Planet that must be read fully to be believed. It blatantly accuses Sarah Palin of being a bad mother. One particularly egregious excerpt:
Being president, or even vice-president, requires much more than the usual amount of focus and dedication, and leaves officeholders much less time to devote to their families. If the Palins, especially Sarah, really want to support these pregnant children, they would put their own professional ambitions on hold until both babies were in school and the young mother and father were able to support themselves and their child. If Sarah respected the privacy of the daughter and the boyfriend, she would not have thrust herself—and them—into the spotlight at this particular difficult moment.

There’s no feminist ideology that mandates exploiting and neglecting your kids in order to get ahead. Nancy Pelosi, another mother of five, did it right, and Palin could too if she had an ounce of compassion or a grain of sense.

I can not even process the stupidity, sexism, meanness and narrow world view that these "feminists" keep putting on display in their hit pieces...

Incredible sexism. Of course she seems to like Nancy Pelosi so what can you expect?

ok, for the 457956th time. Bristol and Levi are the parents of their child. THEY will be in charge of thier child. At 17, and in a position where she can easily finish up highschool with private tutors in a few months, Bristol is hardly going to be reliant on her mother to raise her child.

Levi can go work on the oil fields and take care of his family. This isn't that complicated, and it really isn't of much concern for the Gov. Palin. Levi and Bristol acted as adults to get engaged and get pregnant, they can act as adults to raise their child.

I find it incredible that our society deems 17 year olds old enough to go out on their own to college where they can drink and sleep around, but not old enough to be mature adults.

Bristol is 1 year away from being 18. How sheltered does she need to be? Maybe she told her mother she wished her to go ahead with this campaign. Maybe part of being a good parent isn't overprotecting your child from the results of bad decisions. This writer probably thinks it's great parenting to overprotect. It certainly isn't a vote of confidence in Bristol to think she can't hold her head up and face the public. She's made some responsible decisions after her initial immature actions and people should applaud them instead of being so critical. Shame on these ridiculous writers. If they weren't writing all this junk, Bristol wouldn't "need protecting" as they point out.
